Team Continuum
“There’s a lot more to cancer than finding a cure.” Team Continuum improves the quality of life of cancer patients, here and now, by providing immediate assistance to address non-medical needs as they face the challenges and stresses of battling cancer. At Holiday Time, Team Continuum enables hospitals in NY Metro Area to acquire toys for children battling cancer who must spend the holidays in a hospital or care facility.
To date, Team Continuum raised over $6 million through donations from participants on the Team who run in the ING New York City Marathon, as well as by sponsorships and special events. In addition, the organization holds fundraisers. In making a connection between two of life’s most challenging pursuits, that of battling cancer and running a marathon, we raise awareness of the strength and reliance of cancer patients and the doctors, families, friends and organizations that are vital to the treatment and recovery process.

Thomas G. Labrecque Foundation
The Thomas G. Labrecque Foundation is committed to preventing lung cancer through education and early detection research. In September of 2000, Thomas G. Labrecque, former CEO of Chase Manhattan Bank and a lifelong never-smoker, was diagnosed with lung cancer and died at the age of 62 only eight weeks later. The Foundation was founded in 2003 by the Labrecque family in honor of Tom’s memory to spread awareness that anyone can suffer from lung cancer at any age.
The money donated to the Foundation goes directly to support lung cancer research by funding the development of new treatments and better screening tools. With help from a medical advisory board composed of the nation’s top oncology experts, the Foundation ensures that the best and most innovative research projects receive the donated funds. The Foundation also focuses media and grassroots attention on lung cancer, which remains the leading cancer killer in the US. With your help, we can develop simple imaging and blood tests that can be used for the earliest detection of this otherwise lethal cancer that affects all of us - smokers, non-smokers and former smokers alike.

U.S Fund for UNICEF *Sold Out *
UNICEF has saved more children’s lives than any other humanitarian organization in the world. Working in over 150 countries, UNICEF provides children with health care, clean water, nutrition, education, emergency relief, and more. We are at the forefront of efforts to reduce child mortality worldwide. There has been substantial progress—the annual number of under-five deaths dropped from 13 million in 1990 to 8.8 million in 2008. But still, 24,000 children die each day from preventable causes. Our mission is to do whatever it takes to make that number zero by giving children the essentials for a safe and healthy childhood.
For a second consecutive year, UNICEF is partnering with the ING New York City Marathon, to fundraise on behalf of the world's children and provide the life saving care that is needed. Members of Team UNICEF are active citizens running toward the day when zero children die from preventable causes, an attainable goal by which UNICEF offers the strength, knowledge, and efficiency to accomplish success. The members of Team UNICEF believe that zero preventable deaths is the finish line.

Amigos de Proniño
Proniño is a social action program carried out by Telefónica, managed by the Telefónica Foundation and which contributes significantly to reduce child labour in Latin America. The program is aligned with the regional goals of the International Labour Organization (ILO), which seeks to eradicate child labour before 2015, and all child labour before 2020. Proniño is present in 13 countries in the Region, where Telefonica has its operations. As of today, almost 180,000 children benefit from this Program.
Dropping out from school is one of the biggest obstacles to economic development in Latin America, increasing social inequalities. It is estimated that 5.1 million children are working in Latin America and the Caribbean alone, missing out on development opportunities. Within this context, Proniño interventions are based on the principle that "education is an effective tool for the progressive eradication of child labour”.
To provide the necessary conditions for education, the Proniño program includes the supply of school materials and uniforms, as well as monitoring and providing assistance with nutrition and health, as in many cases the children's basic needs are not met. The schools that Proniño works with run educational programs to encourage a proper use of time, thus avoiding risky behaviors.
Given that children are often in precarious family and social situations, it is also necessary to carry out integrated actions involving the family, the school and the community. Accordingly, Proniño also works on family advice programs, as well as in the transformation of cultural patterns that justify child labour.
