What to Do Today
Tip #2 - Tuesday, October 6
Find Your Official Handbook
You should've received it in the mail. Can't find it? View the PDF. The handbook is a must-read source of info about race week and race day, so hang onto it and bring it with you to New York.
Plan Your Travel
If you haven't planned your travel to New York, do so ASAP. Visit our Travel and Hotels page for info. You can book a flight, hotel room, and car rental through Anthony Travel, the official housing bureau of the ING New York City Marathon. Click here or call 800.736.6377. If you can, plan to arrive in New York by Thursday or Friday of race week so that you can pick up your race materials at the ING New York City Marathon Health and Fitness Expo before Saturday, the most crowded day.
Check Your Running Shoes
If you've logged more than 350-400 miles in your current pair, get a new pair this week or next week, so that you have plenty of time to test them before November 1. You do NOT want to wear anything new on race day (more on this later).
Don't Run Too Much
Yes, we know you have a marathon in less than four weeks—and that's exactly why we're telling you to run less, not more, starting this week. Check back tomorrow for details.
Reminder: Online registration for this Sunday's NYRR Half-Marathon Grand Prix Presented by Continental Airlines: Staten Island closes at 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, October 6.
