NYRR Dash to the Finish Line 5K – Event Gallery

Saturday, November 5, 2011

The first time was a charm—and a bit of a chill—for the Dash to the Finish Line 5K, a brand-new race this year during Marathon Week. Brisk temperatures (37 degrees at the start) didn't keep a field of 5,347 runners (2,476 men and 2,871 women) from enjoying a fast new course that started near the United Nations at 47th Street and First Avenue and then toured Midtown and southern Central Park before reaching the famed ING New York City Marathon finish line near West 67th Street. Chris Thompson of Great Britain and Sara Hall of the USA set records for the fastest times ever run in a New York City 5K—13:53 and 15:56, respectively—and a flood of locals and visitors followed.

Check back Sunday night for a photo gallery featuring the professional races.
