Charities - Team for Kids

For more than 7,400 participants in the ING New York City Marathon 2010, the race was an opportunity to give something back by running for a worthy cause. There were 191 official charities represented, and their collective goal this year was to raise $26.2 million, or one million dollars per mile. One of the largest fund-raising efforts was carried out by NYRR’s Team for Kids, a group of 1,525 runners aiming to raise $4 million to support NYRR Youth and Community Services. “The ING New York City Marathon is about more than running,” said NYRR president and CEO and marathon race director Mary Wittenberg. “The event makes a tremendous impact on the many lives that will be affected through the money raised as part of the charity program.”
